Carlos Martinez recently joined Brunswick Hills Tennis Center to be our new Tennis Director. Carlos started his tennis career early on when he was 8 years old. His passion for the sport gradually increased overtime because he was always accompanying his dad, who was also a tennis player and coach. Until he was 17 years old, he competed nationally in Colombia. Carlos was ranked top 5 in the Nation in 16s and competed at an international level (ITF & Futures) in South America and in Europe. After he turned 18, he decided to come to the United States to pursue a degree in Geology while playing college tennis.

Coach Carlos was recruited by Western Michigan a Division 1 University located in Kalamazoo, MI. After his Sophomore year, he transferred to Jackson State University and got awarded player of the SWAC Conference, MVP two consecutive years, First Team Singles and Leadership Athletic Award. After completing his Bachelor Degree in Geology, he earned a Master's Degree in Computer Science.

Along side with his academics, Coach Carlos was also following his dad's steps. He started his coaching career working with National and ITF Juniors privately, then he worked at Club Med Academies along side with Coach Gabe Jaramillo where he worked with several high ranked ITF junior players and Professional players. Lastly he started working for Parham Bridges Tennis Center as one of the main tennis coaches, but his leadership and commitment led him to be the Tennis Director of the center.

Coach Carlos holds a PTR Certification of Professional 11 to 17, PTR Certification of Performance Training, USPTA.
