Cui regrouped and played flawless consistent tennis in set number 2. High percentage play coupled with a powerful forehand groundstroke allowed Cui to hold serve and break Bernardskii twice to win the set easily 6-1.
The match tiebreaker was high quality tennis. Both players were determined to play their best to win. The rallies were intense as both players lifted their games to the maximum. Extended rallies were the norm while peppered with aggressive groundies when the opportunities presented themselves. Neither player could reach a two point advantage until tied at 7-points all. Bernardskii kept his cool and reached match point at 9-7.
Match point was the most exciting point of the match as the rally was extended with incredible shots as both players played aggressive and defensive when called to. Finally Cui hit a powerful backhand approach shot down the line to Bernardskii's forehand. Bernardskii was forced to play 3 defensive lobs. Two of those lobs were smashed down the middle of the court but Cui hit the 3rd overhead long and the match was over.
Both players were respectful at the net with sincere congrats and good wishes for an exciting well played match. BHTC congratulates both Nathan and Andrew. Both players train here at BHTC under the guidance of Coach Carlos Martinez. We wish Nathan and Andrew continued hard work and success in the future.
